Passing Through....

Its amazing how many people stumble across the 'crossroads to the Northern Palouse".  This young couple had just spent the night camping at Heyburn State Park in Idaho and were on their way home to Seattle!  Happy trails.
You never know who you will meet over a cup of coffee!

Friends, Food and Beer

What a great way to spend a Palouse afternoon, Saturday, August 16th.  On Sacred Grounds was filled with 21 guests this afternoon.  We offered a special Palouse Picnic menu:  German Sausage with home-made sauerkraut, apple crisp a la mode and Zythum beer (a wheat beer and dark ale) and a special visit by local artist Ken Posselt of Saint Maries, ID.

Fun was had by all!

Saturday Fun at Palouse Cafe

The house was packed this Saturday with a lot of new visitors and friends stopping by for an custom omelette and buttermilk pancake.  We even had some high-flying guests visit! Newcomers are always made to feel welcome and part of the On Sacred Grounds Family.  It's like eating a delicious breakfast at home; however,  you don't have to do the dishes!

Starting on Saturday, August 9th and continuing to the fall, On Sacred Grounds will be hosting a Farmers' market on Saturday morning from 9 AM till Noon.  The first two vendors will be CasaCano Farms (Madyson and Jorge).  Their farm is located on South Windmill Drive off the Palouse Highway. You can't get more local than that!  Tom Weber will also be around with his fresh, local, organic chickens.  He raises them in a cute little farm next to Hangman Creek!  Becky and Lon Jasper have left some wonderful pre-packaged feta and chevre cheese.  They range in price from $6 to $7.50 a block.  They go great with a salad or on a cracker!
Don't forget the Thursday Exchange Luncheon!   Elaine's Home-made Macaroni and Cheese is on the menu.  Deputy size is $3.99.  Sheriff portion is only $6.99.  Fresh, deluxe salad will be also available for $3.99.   We serve it hot beginning at 11:30 AM!  See ya there!

Guess who dropped by for a cup of coffee!

The Christian Crusaders were returning from a trip celebrating the organization's 35th anniversary in Republic, WA.  They were passing through and could resist a good cup of coffee!

Also passing through, Kevin and Chandler, son and grandson of Doug & Joyce.  Happy trails to one and all.

Comin' onto the Dog Days of Summer

It looks like the temperature gage will be kissing the triple digits again today.  Come on in and enjoy the air-conditioned coolness at On Sacred Grounds.  If you notice with the sign, the Palouse Cafe is now open for breakfast and lunch.

For breakfast (Monday - Friday), you may consider revvin' up your motor with some steel-cut oatmeal with honey and bananas, a delicious slice of Quiche Lorraine or delightful bowl of Cherrios or Raisin-bran cereal served with Spokane Family Farm milk.

We still have tasty, organic bagels that I can serve with cream cheese, or melted cheddar cheese.
I can make a ham/egg & cheese sandwich too!  We also have organic cinnamon rolls and sifgnaiyot
(that's a European-style raspberry filled donut).

We have also added an array of home-made cookin' specials including NY Style Lasagna (with beef & pork), Taco Pie (no, its not very spicy), and made-from scratch hummus!  Give us a whirl! Let Rod & I do the cookin' this week.

When you stop in   ask about the Palouse Picnic speciality planned for Saturday, August 16th.
Reservations required!  Or call me at 747-6294.

The temperature should hit the 90s. Who wants to be stuck in the kitchen cooking!  Elaine has the solution.

I have half a dozen of Helen's NY Style lasagnas left.  This delightful meal is packed with beef and pork, mozzarella and ricotta cheese, eggs, onions and spices.  Filling and satisfying for
pickiest eater!

This was my Mom's favorite meal to make and includes a lot of love at no extra charge.  $3.99 per serving. Get them while they last!

Spring has come to Valleyford!

What are two ways that you can tell that Spring has finally come to Valleyford?  Besides the rapidly growing front lawns!

One way is that Spokane County Street sweepers made their way from the South Hill & 57th along the Palouse Hwy to Hwy. 27th.

The other way is the road crew makes their annual journey along the Palouse!

Treasure Hunt for Lucky Chair

It was someone's lucky day at On Sacred Grounds today.  As part of a customer appreciation give-a-way, a secret ticket was placed under a chair.

All were asked to see who had the lucky chair with the ticket.  The winner received a dessert of their choice:  a mouth-watering fresh, hot cinnamon roll, a sweet bear claw or an Nestle or Haagen Daas ice cream!

And the winner was:  (drum-roll please)

Rod Christian!

Hope to see you next week:
